Our tour begins with a drive from Riga to Sigulda, Latvia’s most beloved destination for nature walks and outdoor recreation. Sigulda offers not only lush landscapes but also a deep historical and cultural background.
Our first stop is the 'Emperor’s View' – a stunning overlook offering breathtaking sights of the ancient Gauja River valley. We’ll take a short walk along Sigulda’s picturesque 'Alpine Paths' to reach Paradise Hill, embracing the region's nickname, 'Livonian Switzerland.'
Throughout the day, you'll explore the heritage of Sigulda: from the romantic ruins of medieval castles to museum exhibits in the Turaida Museum Reserve. You'll see the Livonian Order Sigulda Castle, the New Castle of Sigulda, see the famous Gutman’s Cave, and gaze at the winding Gauja River from atop Turaida Castle.
Along the way, you’ll hear captivating local legends, including the story of the Turaida Rose.
