What is a Classic Tour?
What is a Classic Tour?
A Classic Tour is a pre-built tour product that exists independently of any single guide.
The tour β its name, route, key stops, meeting point, and price β is already defined by the group that created it. Your job as a guide is simply to enroll in it and set your availability. Once you are enrolled, you become part of the pool of guides who can deliver that tour to guests β in your language, on the dates you are available.
You find Classic Tours here: Classic Tours when you log in as a guide.
πΊοΈ How does it work?
When a traveler books a Classic Tour, they choose:
Their travel date
Their preferred language
The platform then automatically filters the enrolled guides and shows only the ones who are available on that date and speak the required language.
This means:
You are not competing on price β you are matched based on fit
Travelers see a clean, relevant shortlist β not every guide in the city
High-demand tours stay discoverable without you having to manage or market them
Once you are selected and the booking is confirmed, you receive the details and the tour is yours to deliver.
π‘ Why is this different from your other tour products?
With your own Signature Tours, you create the experience from scratch β the route, the story, the pricing. That takes time, and it works best when travelers are already interested in you specifically.
Classic Tours work the other way around. The experience already exists and is already being searched for. You plug in, stay available, and get matched to guests who are looking for exactly that type of tour.
This is especially useful for:
High-volume, general interest tours β "Oslo Highlights", "Bergen Walking Tour" β where demand is consistent but travelers have not yet chosen a specific guide
First-time visitors who want to see the key sights without doing hours of research
βοΈ What do I need to do to enroll?
Enrolling in a Classic Tour takes just a few steps:
Browse available Classic Tours in your city or region
Select the ones that match your expertise and certifications
Set your availability so the platform knows when you can be matched
That is it. You do not write the tour, price it, or manage its visibility. The group behind the tour takes care of that.
ποΈ Who creates Classic Tours? Understanding groups on the platform
Classic Tours are created and managed by groups β and there are several types of groups on Keyguides Connect.
Understanding who creates the tours you enroll in helps you make better decisions about which ones to join β and whether you might want to create your own.
Guide Associations
Formal associations of licensed or certified tour guides. These are often the official bodies in a city or country that represent the profession. Their Classic Tours tend to cover the key sights and are trusted by hotels, travel advisors, and repeat visitors. If you are a member of an association that is already on the platform, their tours are a natural first place to enroll.
Commercial Groups
Tour operators, travel companies, and other businesses that have built products on the platform. They may have existing distribution and guest relationships. Enrolling in a commercial group's Classic Tours can give you access to a stream of guests you would not otherwise reach through your own profile alone.
Community Groups
Groups of guides who have come together around a shared interest, niche, or geography β not necessarily a formal association. This covers a wide range: a group of food and wine guides, a collective focused on dark history walks, a regional group covering fjord towns, or a specialist group for a particular type of traveler (history, architecture, accessibility, LGBTQ+ travel). What they have in common is that they create their own Classic Tours and invite guides who fit the brief to enroll.
π Can I create my own group and Classic Tours?
Yes β and this is one of the most powerful things you can do on the platform.
If you work with other guides regularly, have a specific niche, or want to create a shared tour product that sits beyond your individual profile, you can set up a group and create your own Classic Tours under it.
Your group's Classic Tours will:
Appear in search results just like any other Classic Tour
Be bookable by travelers who find them directly
Allow you to enroll other guides from the platform as delivery partners
This is ideal for:
A team of guides who collaborate on a regular city product
A niche group (e.g., food tours, street art, accessible travel) that wants a shared bookable product
Guides who want to build something bigger than a single profile

π How should I think about Classic Tours as part of my profile?
Classic Tours are one of three product types on Keyguides Connect β alongside your Custom Tours and Signature Tours.
Each one serves a different kind of traveler at a different stage:
"I want someone great, I'll figure out the details later" β Custom Tour
"I want to see the highlights β show me what's available" β Classic Tour
"I found this specific tour and I need to book it" β Signature Tour
Guides who are enrolled in Classic Tours alongside their own products are visible to a much wider range of guests β including the large share of travelers who arrive at a booking decision through a tour product, not a guide profile.
If there are no Classic Tours in your city yet, reach out to your association or a group you work with and suggest creating one. Getting involved early puts you in a strong position when bookings start coming in.
